Service

getmyenv stores encrypted environment secrets and helps you load them into apps that read native environment variables. By creating an account or using the CLI against our API, you agree to these terms.

These terms cover the hosted service at getmyenv.com and its API. Published npm packages (getmyenv, @getmyenv/shared, @getmyenv/crypto) are licensed under MIT. Use of those packages under MIT is separate from use of the hosted service.

Using the website may include site analytics described in Privacy.

Open pilot

The hosted service is in an open pilot. Accounts created during the pilot stay free, with limits (currently up to 5 projects you own, 10 contexts each). Projects shared with you do not count. No paid plans are live yet. Pilot limits may change. We will update this page when they do.

Guest projects

You may create a guest project without an account (for example via npx getmyenv guest). A guest project stays active while the CLI uses it. After 30 days without use, or 180 days after it was created, values can't change. For 30 more days, run still works and it can still be claimed. Unclaimed projects may be deleted after that. Deletion is permanent. Claiming binds the project to your account. Until claim, treat guest projects as temporary.

Your account

You manage access to your account: your Vault password, tokens, MFA device, and trusted machines. A token works until it expires or you revoke it.

We never store your Vault password or your recovery code, so we can't recover either. Your recovery code lets you set a new Vault password. If you lose both, values only you could open can't be decrypted.

You can delete your account from Settings. Deletion removes the projects you own, for every member, with their ciphertext, backup records, webhooks, and activity. Transfer a project first to keep it for a member. You leave projects shared with you. Tokens and sessions for that account stop working. Security events (sign-ins, failed codes, the deletion itself) are kept, unlinked from the account. The deletion event records your email.

Acceptable use

• Use the service for lawful purposes only.
• Do not attempt to access other users' projects or break authentication or encryption controls.
• Do not abuse the API (including scraping or automated attacks).

Your content

You retain ownership of your secrets and project data. You grant us permission to store and process ciphertext and metadata as needed to provide the service. See the Privacy page for what we store. The getmyenv service software and branding remain ours. Feedback you send may be used to improve the product without obligation to you.

Unset and expire

Unsetting or expiring a value in getmyenv means we stop providing it. That does not revoke or invalidate the credential at a third-party provider.

Availability

We aim to keep the service available. We do not guarantee unbroken uptime. Features may change as the product develops.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the extent allowed by law.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, getmyenv is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of secrets, profits, data, or goodwill, whether based on contract, tort, or otherwise. Our total liability for claims arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (USD $50), if any fees apply. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

Termination

We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if we need to protect the service or other users. You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page is the latest revision.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the operator of getmyenv.com is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in that place have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from the hosted service, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country require otherwise.
